I started the KonMari process at a time when I had to literally ‘clear out,’ emptying a storage unit where I had kept furniture and memories from a chalet I had sold 11 years ago.

Yuri invited me to follow the KonMari method at the same time I had to empty the storage unit, and it helped me do it calmly. We started at my home and proceeded methodically, with the structure and steps of the process being rigorous and requiring total commitment ; realizing that we have so many hidden, forgotten things (often intentionally) is enlightening. Bringing these items to light, holding them in your hands, taking care of them, and gently placing them in a drawer or box, far from ordinary tidying up, was revealing and moving ! Each item that makes up a personal universe has a reason to be there; I remembered exactly where, when, under what circumstances, and why I had bought or brought it home.

Letting go (and not just getting rid of!) these items, whether they represent a good or bad memory, was a crucial 'initiation' for me that allowed me to free myself from so many things..

Impressive moments; all my shoes... my 20s, 30s, they were there laid out in front of me, taken out of their boxes. Yuri taught me to say goodbye and thank you to those that had accompanied me through certain periods of my life, freeing them for other journeys and also freeing myself calmly for my next paths. A lot of emotion for old 'shoes,' yes! The best part of this method is that I kept, well-organized and visible in my closet, the shoes that remind me of moments of sweetness, my youth, harmonious periods.

I learned to have regard for my clothes, kitchen utensils, living room decorations, and other various items, especially the small, useless, and trivial things that I now keep in a pretty box, with which I sometimes play and converse. The books read, the CDs listened to, the clothes that are too small, the filed documents they live another life, and I continue mine, accompanied by what is important to me ; « at home for me » !

Freed from the sadness that overwhelmed me at the thought of having to throw away furniture, and keepsakes, I was able to calmly empty the storage unit after giving away, recycling, and even burning some items in my fireplace, simply saying THANK YOU to them!”
